One Punch Can Kill
The One Punch Can Kill campaign was spurred by a number of senseless fatal assaults in Queensland. in 2007, through the hard work of a number of volunteers, many of whom had themselves lost a loved one through a fatal assault, One Punch Can Kill gained recognition within the media, within courtrooms, and on the streets.
A number of information evenings were held where volunteers handed out information to late-night party-goers, urging them to keep safe and to walk away from violent situations.
In late 2007, the Queensland Government adopted this phrase and created a range of advertisements - the first of their kind in Queensland - targeting young men and women who may find themselves in potentially violent situations.
The Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group, and the Queensland Government have commited to this campaign for three years. During this time, a range of merchandise, advertisements, events and promotions incorporating the One Punch Can Kill phrase will be communicated throughout Queensland.
The Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group has been working on filming a unique DVD to accompany the One Punch Can Kill campaign. This short film will be aimed at the 14-17 age-group, and will highlight the consequences of even the smallest act of violence.
