Volunteer



The Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group is a unique organisation that delivers a necessary service to families living in the aftermath of homicide. People with a range of life wisdom and experience are always needed for various roles, and we welcome all enquiries (virtual volunteers are also welcome).

In 2008, a number of exciting and rewarding volunteer roles will be available in the following capacities. Please, if you have regular time each month - no matter how little - and have an interest in social justice or simply just supporting one person through an incredibly traumatic time, we would love to hear from you.


Supporting Individuals and Families

Volunteer Team Leaders are requried in the following locations: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville and Rockhampton
Volunteer Peer Supporters are required for home visits, court support or phone calls in the following locations: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Cairns.


Education

Anti-Violence Campaigners are requried to attend a number of activities throughout the state, most notably our One Punch Can Kill evenings
AWARE Subcommittee members are requried to work with the QHVSG to identify current and future education issues regarding violence throughout the state. People with legal or education / social justice backgrounds are encouraged to enquire, as are those from the legal profession.
Speaking Coachesare required throughout the state to help families develop the tools and confidence to speak in public about their experiences, imparting wisdom to the community and various stakeholders. People with Toastmaster or public speaking background encouraged.


Fundraising

A Grant Writer is required to support the organisation in researching and applying for a number of grants available
A Donor Coordinator is required to effectively and creatively manage a small number of private and philanthropic donors
Fundraising Volunteers are required throughout the state to attend various activities in order to raise much-needed funds for the group
